Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about PCB and PCBA orders, production files, lead times, quality, payment and shipping.
Ordering
Can I order only part of the job?
Yes. You can hand me only the production files, only bare PCB fabrication, assembly with parts or boards you supply, component sourcing, or the whole job as turnkey PCBA. The same engineer follows it either way.
Do you own the factory?
No, and I won't pretend to. Shenzhen Yipin Zhuoyan Electronics Co., Ltd. is an engineer-led PCB/PCBA service. Your boards are built at vetted partner factories in China; I handle file preparation, DFM review, sourcing, factory selection, quality checks and all communication. A visit to a partner factory or a live video tour can be arranged.
What do I need to send for a quote?
For bare boards: Gerber (zip, including drill), quantity, thickness, finish and any special requirements. For assembly, add a BOM with manufacturer part numbers and a pick-and-place file. No production files yet? Send your design project or schematic. If something is missing, I'll ask.
Is the DFM check really free?
Yes. Every quote includes a DFM check of your Gerber and a review of your BOM, with no obligation to order.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Prototype and small-batch quantities are welcome. Tell me the quantity you need and it will be quoted as such.
Files & design
Can you prepare the production files for my board?
Yes. From your design I prepare a production-ready package: Gerber, drill, BOM and pick-and-place / centroid files, checked against the process of the factory that will build it.
Can you lay out or revise my PCB?
Yes. Layout from your schematic or netlist, and revisions of existing designs: re-spins, outline or connector changes, footprint fixes and DFM-driven changes, in Altium.
Can you design my schematic?
I work from your circuit design. Production files, layout, layout revisions and DFM changes are my core service; I don't take on new circuit design.
Will my design files stay confidential?
Your files are used only to review, quote and build your order, and are shared only with the factory that builds it. If your company requires an NDA, send it with your enquiry.
Lead time & quality
How long does production take?
Typical partner-factory lead times for bare boards are 4–8 days for double-sided and 6–12 days for multilayer boards. Assembly and component sourcing add time depending on the BOM. The confirmed lead time is on every quote, and shipping time comes on top.
How is quality checked?
Bare boards go through 100% AOI and flying-probe or automated electrical test, then final QC at the factory. I review the results, and assembled boards are inspected before shipping. Functional tests are possible if you supply a test procedure.
Which certifications do the factories have?
The partner PCB lines I use hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001, UL and IATF 16949. If your project needs specific certificates or reports, tell me before ordering so I can confirm them for your job.
Payment & shipping
How do I pay?
The payment method and terms are written on each quote and agreed before work starts. If you need a particular method or have a supplier onboarding process, let me know and we'll check whether it can work.
How are orders shipped?
Orders ship from China by international express courier, or through your own forwarder or courier account if you prefer. The shipping method, cost and terms are listed on the quote. Import duties and taxes depend on your country.
Older equipment
What do you need from me?
Whatever documentation you have for the board: Gerber, drawings, BOM or a part list, plus photos of the board so I can see what it is. I'll tell you what is needed for production before you pay anything.
What if some parts are obsolete?
I identify each part from its markings and the BOM, and look for the original or a suitable alternative. Any substitute is proposed to you for approval; nothing is swapped silently.
Still have a question?
E-mail me or message me on WhatsApp, or send your files and ask it together with the quote request.
